Witnesses to his baptism were George Morrison & George Little. George Morrison was also a witness at his wife, Margaret Greig's baptism.

Their marriage was recorded on 10th May 1801 when they "produced Marriage Lines dated Edin(burgh) 14th Febry 1801 declared themselves to be married persons and paid the usual dues after which their marriage was recorded".

His death is recorded in the Prestonpans Parish Register - the age is consistent with our William. He is buried in the East churchyard.

• He worked as a Salter at the time of son Alexander's Birth on 7 Jan 1819 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland.

• He worked as a Salter at the time of son George's birth on 1 Feb 1825 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland.

• He worked as a Salter according to his daughter Agnes' Death Certificate.

William married Margaret Greig **, daughter of Alexander Greig and Janet Ross, on 14 Feb 1801 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland. (Margaret Greig ** was born on 17 Mar 1781 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland, christened on 25 Mar 1781 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland and died before 1870.)
