bullet  General Notes:

I have been unable to locate a baptism record for her, nor for any children born to a Thomas and Margaret Crossan.

Her name is listed as "Jane" on daughter Elizabeth's death record (the informant was Elizabeth's husband William), and "Elizabeth CROSSAN" on daughter Elizabeth's marriage certificate. She is recorded as Jane CROSSAN on daughter Isobel's birth certificate and on daughter Christina's death record. On her own death record she is Jane CROSSING, widow of John Shaw, Weaver. The informant was "Isabella CROSSING Daughter & Occupier", who could not read or write as she left her mark. On her husband's death record she was the Informant, and although hard to make out it is possible her name is recorded as Jane CROSSAN, again though she made her 'mark' so she couldn't read what was in front of her.

Her grandson John was born at 13 Lamb St, her daughter Elizabeth's husband William lived at 15 Lamb St when they married, she died at 17 Lamb St, Hamilton.

See husband John's details for 1841 & 1851 Census information.

At the time of the 1861 Census she was living at 17 Lamb St and recorded as "Jean C Shaw", aged 68, a Pauper, born in Glasgow. She was living with her daughter Isabella, aged 28, recorded as married, a Housekeeper, birthplace Falkirk, Stirlingshire.
