At the time of the 1911 Census Robert was widowed and living with his son William at 32 Murano St, Partick, Glasgow. He was aged 54 a Plumber employed in the Building Trade, born Stirlingshire. He and William, aged 26, an Ironmonger's Assistant, born Lanark, Glasgow shared a house that had one room with a window.

When he died he left an Estate valued at GBP 73:19:6. His brother William Henry was nominated as Executor.
