bullet  General Notes:

At the time of the 1841 Census he was living in Fore St Camelford, aged 55, "Ind"(ependant). Living with him was Caroline Arnall aged 15 and Mary Bayley, a 35 year old grocer (his sister in law).

At the time of the 1851 Census he was living in Bridge St, Camelford. He was a widower aged 66, a Mason born in Lanteglos. Mary Bayley was living with him still, recorded as his Servant, a housekeeper aged 52, born Stratton, Cornwall. Daughter Caroline was living with her married sister Elizabeth Solomon in Fore St. Living near them also was son Edward Arnall b. abt. 1811, a mercer and tailor employing 3 men; his wife Mary b. abt. 1818; a son Edward Arnall b. abt. 1841 and a servant Jane Bray aged 19. All born Lanteglos but subsequent Censuses say Edward was born in Stratton, Cornwall. Also living in Lanteglos by Camelford then, in Market Street, was a John Arnall aged 28 born in Lanteglos. He was a Labourer and had his wife Elizabeth and children George, 4, and Fanny H, 4 months living with them. John's birth year of ca.1823 makes it possible he is a son of George. However, he appears to have married Elizabeth Hocken in Tintagel in 1845 and his father's name is recorded on that record as James.

At the time of the 1861 Census he was living in Fore St, Camelford, aged 75, a Mason, widowed and still living with his sister in law, Mary Bayly, 60, an unmarried housekeeper born in Stratton, Cornwall.

He died leaving an estate valued at less that 100 pounds in 1867. He was recorded in the Probate register as a Mason from Lanteglos by Camelford. On his death certificate he is recorded as a "Proprietor of Houses". His executor was Thomas Solomon, merchant and innkeeper from Lanteglos by Camelford - he was married to George's eldest daughter, Elizabeth.

Interestingly, he left his houshold effects & furniture to Mary Bayley/Baily and provided that she could live in his house and derive income from all his real estate It is obvious that Mary Bayley helped George raise his children after the early death of his wife Elizabeth, and likely was a mother figure to them. Several of George's children appear to have named their own children after her.

bullet  Medical Notes:

The informant on his death certificate was son, Edward who was present at the death.
