  General Notes:

On the 14th October 1902, Ann's soon-to-be husband wrote to her parents seeking her hand in marriage. The letter reads:

Dear Mr & Mrs Gouldthorp,

I am writing to ask of your consent to allow your daughter Annie to be my wife.

I understand that you are aware of my prospects so it is needless to repeat them. You have heard that Florrie & George intend going to Western Australia as also my mother & family to Africa during December, 4th I believe. Should your reply be favourable which I trust it will, we will probably be united in December.

This is, I might mention much earlier than I expected being partly, so to speak before I am ready (financially), but circumstances hasten matters sometimes and as my mother has made me a splendid offer, allowing me to have the home as it stands furnished for a small sum I have every reason to believe that I can support, care, protect and keep your Annie up to that high and honourable standard which has always been so much admired by you.

Ann married Arthur Robert Quinton, son of Thomas Quinton and Mary Anne Williams, in 1902 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. (Arthur Robert Quinton was born in 1879 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and died in 1942 in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia.)
