According to Sarah's Shipping record her religion was Church of England and she could read and write.
She had a residence and shop at 408 Elizabeth St, Sydney, but was declared (Voluntarily) Insolvent on the 25th August 1871. Her assets were Stock at 1 pound, Furntiture at 2 pounds and Apparel at 1 pound. Her liabilities were 33 pounds 3 shillings and 7 pence. Her creditors were William Douglass, 32 pounds 3 shillings and 7 pence, for "Goods sold & delivered", and Mr Forrill(?), Confectioner, George Street, 1 pound "Money Lent".
An Inventory of her Goods and Chattels dated 26 Aug 1871 detailed the following (as far as I can make out) : Room: 2 tables, 2 Chairs, Looking Glass, Crockery, Cooking Utensils, (some other items I cant identify). Shop: 18 Show Glass & Tins, 3 small glass Glass Cups (?), Something Casks?, Quantity of fruit gingerbread (?) & ???.
408 Elizabeth St is quite near Sydney's Central Train Station. Today the site is occupied by a low rise office block and shops at street level. 408 is occupied by a funky CD store.
The informant on her Death Certificate was George Parkin, Son in Law, of Walter St, Granville.
According to her grave's memorial inscription she died on 26th January, not the 28th as recorded on her Death Certificate. She is buried in the Rookwood Cemetery, old CofE section DD, Row 5, Grave 193 along with her Grand-daughter Agnes Amelia Gouldthorp who died at 4 months of age on the 8th August 1884. Although they are not mentioned on the Gravestone, also buried here are Ronald Gouldthorp and Joyce Gouldthorp, Sarah Ann's Great Grandchildren being the children of Frederick Gouldthorp and Annie Eliza Anstiss who died as infants. Interestingly, the Memorial Stone Inscription faces away from the Grave. Her memorial Inscription reads:
