Sarah Ann Brooker

  General Notes:

At the time of the 1841 Census Sarah was living in East Lane, St Alphage, Greenwich (probably East Street where her deceased husband had been recorded as living previously). She was 31, not born in the County ad Widowed. Living with her were children Agnes, 8; William,4; and George, 2. George's age appears to be incorrect as he was about 5.

Son James (see 1851 census) was born out of wedlock after the death of her husband, William. His baptism record shows his parents as Henry Alders and Sarah, with Henry Alders crossed out, surname for the child is Gouldthorpe, and Sarah is recorded as a "single woman" of East Street, Greenwich. Given that Sarah had a son named James, aged 8, living with her at the time of the 1851 census, and she lived in East Street, and she was widowed at this time I believe that this is her James. I believe that Henry Alders was the father but that, for whatever reason, his name was crossed out - perhaps as the child was not going to carry his name. There is a Henry Alders living in Greenwich in the 1841 census - he is a 40 year old "Pensioner" situated in the Greenwich Royal Hospital for Seamen.

She was the executor for her first husband's aunt Amelia Gouldthorp in 1863. She was named as Sarah Ann Gouldthorp.

Sarah married William Gouldthorp, son of Richard Gouldthorpe and Ann Mackenzie, on 11 Dec 1832 in Saint Mary, Newington, Surrey, England. (William Gouldthorp was born on 17 Jun 1811 in Woolwich, Kent, England, christened on 19 Sep 1811 in Scots Church, Woolwich, , Kent, England, died on 13 Oct 1838 in Greenwich, Kent, England and was buried on 21 Oct 1838 in Greenwich, Kent, England.)

Sarah had a relationship with Henry Alders. (Henry Alders was born circa 1801 in Kent, England.)

Sarah next married William Richardson. (William Richardson was born circa 1803 in Hawkhurst, , Kent, England.)
