Charles & Rachel and daughter Jane arrived in Sydney from England on the "Layton" on 18 Jan 1838. His occupation was farm artisan, his age 20 years, a native of Chew Stoke Somerset, religion Episcopalian, and could read a little.

Extract of the Will of Charles Mapstone:
This is the last Will and testament of me Charles Mapstone of Botany Street, Redfern x......x I hereby revoke all former wills and Testamentary Depositions heretoafore made by me and declare this to be my last will. I hereby give, devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate of whatsoever situated, unto my children, Jane, William, Emma, John,George, Alfred and Caroline, to be divided equally amonst them share and share alike. I charge my said real and personal estate with the payment of my funeral and testamentary expenses and all my just debts, and I appoint my sons John Mapstone and George Mapstone Executors of this my will in witness whereof I the said Charles Mapstone have to this my will set my hand this 18th day of September in the year of our Lord 1883.
