Witnesses at her birth were William & George Duthie.

At the time of the 1871 Census Catherine was Widowed and living at 3 St Johns Place, Edinburgh. She was 49 and a Housewife. Living with her were children Mary Anne, 21, an unmarried confectioner; Catherine, 16, an unmarried confectioner; George, 11 and John, 9, both Scholars.

At the time of the 1881 Census she was living at 7 St Johns Place and aged 59 with no occupation recorded. Living with her were children: George, 21, a Letter Sorter; Mar Anne, 31, a Confectioner; and John, 19, a Jewellers Apprentice. All these children were unmarried.

When she died in 1891 he usual residence was recorded as 28 Warrender (??) Park Terrace, Edinburgh.

Catherine married William Napier, son of William Napier *** and Margaret Fairweather, on 12 Dec 1845 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. (William Napier was born on 23 Apr 1820 in Fetteresso, Kincardine, Scotland, christened on 16 May 1820 in Fetteresso, Kincardine, Scotland, died on 10 Apr 1868 in Canongate, Edinburgh, , Midlothian, Scotland and was buried in New Calton Burial Ground, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.). The cause of his death was Disease of Stomach & Bowels/ 5 months.

There is also a record of a marriage between these two at Dunnottar, 2 weeks earlier, but Catharine is spelled Catherine.
