Degory Geak

   Another name for Degory was Degory Geake.

  General Notes:

Many researchers at Ancestry claim his parents were Robert Geak(e) and Frances Hawton/Horton. Certainly this couple seem to be the only Geak(e)s bearing children in Lawhitton at this time, but I can find no record of Degory being one of them. Certainly Degory and Joan are buried in Lawhitton as is Robert and Frances.

There are records of Degory Geake births in 1632 at St Stephens by Launceston (not far from Lawhitton) to Thomas Geake and Julian and another in the same town in 1634 to parents William Geake and Elizabeth. If not our Degory they are almost certainly related.

Degory married Joan Bennick on 30 Oct 1667 in Lawhitton, Cornwall, England. (Joan Bennick was born circa 1642 in Cornwall, England, died in 1674 in Lawhitton, Cornwall, England and was buried in 1674 in Lawhitton, Cornwall, England.)
