General Notes: At the time of the 1861 census he and Janet were living on "street of village" in Cockenzie. George was 32, a fisherman, Janet 30. Living with them were children Margaret 9, a Scholar, Anne 7 and Janet 2 months, all born in Haddington, Tranent. Noted events in his life were: • He worked as a Fisher at the time of Margarets baptism on 14 Oct 1851 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland. George married Janet Ross, daughter of David Ross and Margaret Jones, on 21 Feb 1851 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland. (Janet Ross was born in 1830, christened on 1 Sep 1830 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland and died on 26 Aug 1867 in Pell, Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland.). The cause of her death was Syphilis/Necrosis of the (?) and ulceration of the palate and larynx. |
