Captain Thomas Johnston
General Notes: His headstone at the Kallara Station declares that he was "Engaged in River Trade from 1855". He was the Captain of the steamboat "Jollie Miller", one of the many Cockenzie & Port Seton sailors who came to Australia to ply the Murray River. Noted events in his life were: • He worked as a Seaman at the time of his marriage on 23 Oct 1849 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland. Thomas married Georgina Pringle Donaldson, daughter of John Donaldson and Jean Herkes, on 23 Oct 1849 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland. (Georgina Pringle Donaldson was christened on 18 Jul 1824 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland.) |
