Witnesses at his Baptism were William Smith and David Grierson.
There is some uncertainty around whether this William married Isabella Hall. There was another William Greig baptised 1st May 1763 whose parents were William Greig, Salter and Isobel Hunter. An Alexander Greig was a witness at that birth. It is possible that this marriage was actually that William Greig.
The record of his death in the Prestonpans Death Register simply records his name and age. The age is exactly correct but this is not conclusive evidence that the record is for our William.

Marriage Notes:
They were married in Edinburgh (Inveresk & Musselburgh parish) and then had the marriage subsequently registered in Tranent Parish as well. This was the same as William's brother, Alexander. This is the only marriage for a William Greig in Tranent that fits the age of William.
