William Thomas (Tom) Campbell was made a ward of the state after his parents apparently seperated. He always celebrated his birthday on Christmas Eve because he never knew when he was really born. Mos>
t of his formative years were spent with the Owens family of Chennall Street in Woonona NSW where he attended school and until he married Violet Alma Bessell. Thomas and his wife lived in High Street >
Thirroul NSW where they raised three daughters, Dawn, Greta Joy and Carol. Thomas worked at the Thirroul Brickyards and was very active in the trade union movement.

William married Violet Alma Bessell, daughter of Charles Mowbray Bessell and Martha Agnes Robertson. (Violet Alma Bessell was born on 14 Apr 1906 in Hurstville, , New South Wales, Australia and died on 27 Jan 1992 in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia.)
