Retta May Bessell

  General Notes:

Retta May Bessell did not marry. Instead she remained at home with her parents to care for them in their old age and until they died. She later went to live with her brother George in Gallipoli Street>
Hurstville and cared for him until his death. Rita then moved to Woonona in Wollongong to live with her sister Violet Campbell who was a widow. Retta and Violet lived for many years in Mitchell Road >
Woonona, a flat in Popes Road Woonona and in Nimbin Street Russell Vale. In her later years Retta developed cancer which eventually took her life. She was a very loving and gentle woman who devoted he>
r life caring for members of her family. She now rests alongside her sister Violet and brother-in- law, Thomas Campbell at Wollongong Lawn Cemetary at Unanderra.
