Elizabeth Brackingberry
General Notes: Elizabeth arrived in Australia on the 29th June 1830 aboard the Roslin Castle as a convict. She had been tried in London on the 3rd December 1829 and sentenced to 14 years for stealing a Prayer Book. She had had no prior convictions. Elizabeth, or Betsy, was described as 5' tall with a dark sallow complexion, Dark brown hair and brown eyes. She had "SLLE" marked on her left arm. Elizabeth married Thomas Barnes on 17 Dec 1833 in St Johns Church, Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia. (Thomas Barnes was born circa 1799 in England, United Kingdom and died in 1880 in Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia.) Marriage Notes: They were married by Rev Samuel Marsden. |
