In 1930 he was a bank clerk living at 13 Uralba St, Lismore, NSW. By 1936 he was a Bank Officer living at the Bank of NSW in Dorrigo with his wife Edna. In 1943 he and Edna were living in Tamworth, Malcolm was still a Bank Officer. In 1945 they were living in 154 Zadoc St Lismore when their son James Hardie was born and died. He was a Bank Officer then. In 1949 they were still in Lismore, Malcom still a Bank Officer. By 1954, Malcolm now a Bank Manager, and Edna were living at Milton, NSW, not far from Ulladulla.
