John and Honora were related on two levels. Firstly they were half-second cousins sharing a Great-grandfather, Timothy Guiney but each descended from different wives. Secondly they were 2nd cousins, once removed with John's grandmother Mary Curtin and Honora's great-grandmother, Margaret Curtin being sisters - the children of Daniel Curtin and Mary Sullivan.
