bullet  General Notes:

George enlisted in the Australian Military Forces on the 8th December 1941 at Paddington in NSW. He was 39 years of age, a Packerman, married with 3 children, and Church of England. He had brown hair and grey/green eyes. His next of kin was his wife, residence at Pennant St, Parramatta.

On the 27th December 1941 he reported into the General Details Depot in Sydney and was "taken on strength" in the 9th Air Wing Battallion. On the 11th April 1942 he ws assigned to the 7 M.D. Soon after he was hospitalised for several days between 7th and 11th June for Dengue (Fever?). It appears that he was appointed a Specialist Blacksmith in August of 1942, and was transferred to the 2/11 Australian Army Troops Coy.

On the 4th January 1944 he was Discharged "being required for employement in an essential occupation".

He is buried in the Macquarie Park Cemetery, A J HARE LAWN, ROW 11, Grave 0040.
