Notes: It wasn't until the death of my Grandfather in 1970 that the family became aware of the fact that his surname Byrne was incorrect. His birth certificate says "David Byrne [Byrne being crossed out] or Blance or Byrne.Illigitimate".
Records show that after the death of Janes husband, Andrew Hay Leith Byrne,she didn't remarry,reverted to her maiden name of Blance and had several relationships which produced 4 illigitimate children. The identity of David's father may never
be known although I haven't given up searching just yet....

David married Jessie Mackay, daughter of John "Dunc" Mackay and Catherine Macleod, on 9 Dec 1919 in The Manse Of Nigg, Aberdeen. (Jessie Mackay was born on 17 May 1899 in Dornoch, Sutherland, Scotland, died on 11 Oct 1956 in Lewisham Hospital, Petersham Australia and was buried in Rookwood Cemetery, Lidcombe, New South Wales, Australia.)
