Elizabeth Cordell **

  General Notes:

At the time of the 1841 Census it appears that she was living with her daughter Elizabeth at Baldock St, Mayfield Yard, Ware in Hertfordshire England. These are the only Fitches living in Ware in 1841. She was recorded as 55 years of age, occupation Butcher, born in the County. Her daughter was 25 years of age, born in the County and a Milliner.

At the time of the 1851 Census she was recorded as living at 123 Baldock St, Ware, in Hertfordshire, England. She was a widow, aged 69 and a Shopkeeper. Her birthplace is listed as Ware. Living with her was Henry Hollingsworth, a Lodger. He was unmarried, 40 and a Carpenter born in Broxbourne.

These respective Census records would put her birth year as 1786 and 1782 respectively. However, she was baptised in Ware on 7 March 1777, parents William and Elizabeth. There is also a record of an Elizabeth Cordell being baptised in Ware on the 15th August 1779 parents Thomas and Martha. However her parentage is proved - William - with reference to her father's Will which specifically refers to her as married to "Zacharia Fitch" who is also an Executor.

There is a record in Free BDM of an Elizabeth Fitch dying in 4Q 1852 in Shoreditch, London. Her husband died in Shoreditch. But this Elizabeth was the wife of William Fitch, Coachman, and aged 69 (therefore born 1783 ). There is also a record of a Zachariah Fitch, aged 24, marrying in Shoreditch Catherine Brew in 1Q1853. His father was Benny Fitch, a farmer.

• She worked as a Shopkeeper at the time of the Census in 1851 in Ware, , Hertfordshire, England.

Elizabeth married Zachariah Fitch **, son of Unknown Fitch and Unknown, on 21 Nov 1799 in Broxbourne, , Hertfordshire, England. (Zachariah Fitch ** was born circa 1775 in England and died on 8 Dec 1838 in Hoxton House Lunatic Asylum, Shoreditch, , Middlesex, England.). The cause of his death was General Decay.

  Marriage Notes:

They were both recorded as being of the Parish (Broxbourne). Witnesses were [Unrecognisable Initials] du Bois, Ann Cock and John Walpole.
