bullet  General Notes:

On her Marriage Certificate her age is shown as 23 putting her birth date at abt 1835, but her death certificate shows her age as 81 suggesting a birth year of abt 1831. Also according to her Death Certificate and her Monumental Inscription she was shown as 61 years in Australia, putting her likely arrival date at about 1851.

There is a record of a Bridget CUSHEN, aged 20, arriving in Sydney on the "Lismoyne" in 1849.

A report in the Sydney Morning Herald on Monday 10 December 1888 indicates that one Bridget Anstiss was facing trial that day for "attempting to wound".

She is buried in the Old Catholic Mortuary 1 Section F, Row 15, Grave 646 along with her son Edward Francis and his children Dorothy M, Francis W and Leslie J. The Memorial Inscription is badly worn but reads:

In Loving Memory of / BRIDGET ANSTISS / Died 8th March 1912 Aged [indistinguishable] / ALSO EDWARD ANSTISS / Beloved Husband of Catherine Anstiss / Died 28th October 1915 Aged 54 Years / ALSO FRANCIS W. ANSTISS / Died 19th Jan 1889 Aged 7 Months / ALSO DOROTHY M. ANSTISS / Died 12th Dec 1898 Aged 5 Years / ALSO LESLIE J. ANSTISS / Died 27th April 1905 Aged 18 Months / Grandchildren and Children / of the Above / R.I.P

• She worked as a Servant at the time of her marriage on 31 May 1858 in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia.

• She resided at the time of her death on 8 Mar 1912 in 1 Church St, Balmain, , New South Wales, Australia.

Bridget married John Anstiss **, son of William Anstiss ** and Sarah Peirson **, on 19 Jul 1852 in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. (John Anstiss ** was born circa 1810 in Islington, , Middlesex, England, died on 28 Jul 1900 in 84 Church St, Balmain, , New South Wales, Australia and was buried on 30 Jul 1900 in Section 4, Plot 3314, CofE Cemetery, Rookwood Cemetery, New South Wales, Australia.). The cause of his death was Chronic bronchitis, senile decay/ some years.

It was a C of E Ceremony. Witnesses were Samuel Jones & Sarah Jones both of Bathurst.
