The informant on his birth certificate was his Aunt, Mary Cullen, his mother's sister.

At the end of 1879 he was on the Committee for the newly constructed Athenaeum Hall and Free Public Library in Harrietville. However in 1889 he was married in Camberwell in Melbourne where he lived for the rest of his life, until his death in 1926.

He and Edith were living at 8 Brinsley Rd, Camberwell in 1914, 1919 and 1924. His occupation was Secretary and Edith, Home Duties. He was in fact the Secretary of the Commercial Travellers Association. In 1914 son Kenneth, warehouseman, and daughter Margaret, home duties were there too. In 1919 & 1924 daughters Edith, a typiste (she was in fact the Secretary to the BHP Chairman), and Margaret, Home Duties were there also. In 1924 son George, returned soldier, was also living with them.

In 1922 his business address was 328 Flinders St, Melbourne, the site of the HQ of the CTA.

George married Edith Lucy Crossley, daughter of Joseph Crossley and Lucy Green, on 25 Sep 1889 in Camberwell, Victoria, Australia. (Edith Lucy Crossley was born on 10 Mar 1863 in High St, Maldon, Victoria, Australia, died on 28 Mar 1945 in St Omer Private Hospital, Camberwell, Victoria, Australia and was buried in Mar 1945 in Box Hill Cemetery, Box Hill, Victoria, Australia.). The cause of her death was Senile Decay, many years.

It was a Presbyterian Ceremony. Witnesses were M.E. Yates and J.H. Jones (the Grooms brother).
