Cause of his death was Bronchitis/Carcinoma of Stomach. General Notes: At the time of the 1881 census he is living at 25 Black Street, Rawyards, Airdrie, aged 60, and working as a Coal Pit Bottomer. He was recorded as born in Falkirk. Living with him were wife Janet, 57, born Liberton Edinburgh; son James, 21 (maybe 27), Engine driver, born Bathgate, Linlithgow; son Robert, 17, an Engine Driver, born Bathgate Linlithgow; and James Ritchie, grandson, 8, a scholar, born New Monkland and Barbara Forsyth, neice, 12, a scholar, born in Slamannan, Stirling. Noted events in his life were: • He worked as a Coal miner in 1874. Robert married Janet Middleton on 3 Mar 1845 in Muiravonside, Stirling, Scotland. (Janet Middleton was born circa 1824 in Liberton, Edinburgh, , Midlothian, Scotland and died after 15 Apr 1889.) |
