bullet  General Notes:

There is only one birth record at ScotlandsPeople for an Alexander in the period 1700-1720 in Stirlingshire.

The only marriage record I can find for an Alexander Laird in Stirling over the period 1722-1740 is one recorded in Polmont. It is a list of Proclamation money paid into the church and no bride's name is recorded. As this is when the Proclamation money was paid the actual marriage probably occurred 3 weeks after the date shown.

A number of researchers show additional children born before the unnamed child, Abraham b.1735 or 1739 and Agnes b. 1736. The only evidence cited is Family trees submitted at IGI, I can find no records substantiating these births. Another child, James, falls into this category but a DNA connection with one of James' descendants suggests this is a valid parentage for him, especially as the only Lairds being born at this time in Stirling were to Alexander and Agnes.
