- Died: ca. Oct 1873, Camelford, , Cornwall, England aged about 64
General Notes:
There is a record of a Thomas Solomon baptised 10 October 1808 in St Dennis, Cornwall to parents Francis and Cathrine. Given one son was named Frank it's possible these are Thomas' parents.
He was the Executor of his father-in-law's estate.
At the time of the 1851 census he was living in Fore Street, Camelford. He was aged 41, born in Cornwall (location hard to decipher) and an "Innkeeper, miller and farmer employing 2 farm labourers" (at least that's how I read it). Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 34, born Lanteglos, Cornwall; children George, 11a scholar and Frank, 5 both born Lanteglos. Also living here was Elizabeth's sister, Caroline Arnall an unmarried barmaid aged 27, born Lanteglos.
At the time of the 1861 Census he was living at the Darlington Arms, apparently on Fore St, Camelford as this is surrounded by census entries for Fore St. He is 52, an Innkeeper, Miller, Farmer, retired merchant. He is recorded as having been born in St Austell, Cornwall. Living here also are his wife, Elizabeth aged 43 (named as Elizabeth B.) and son George A, an unmarried Miller aged 21. Also here were William Cock, 37, a miller; William Stephens, 22, "atter & boots"(?); Nancy Cock, 22, House servant and Annie Warden, 22, House Servant.
At the time of the 1871 Census the hotel was recorded as the Darlington Hotel. Thomas was 62, a Licensed Victualler. His birthplace here is recorded as St Maybyn parish in Cornwall. His wife Elizabeth is aged 53. None of their children are living with them but living here are presumably some staff: Elizabeth Mabley, waitress, Ann Amy a house maid and John C Trewam a Commercial Traveller no doubt staying at the hotel.
Thomas married Elizabeth Bayley Arnall, daughter of George Arnall ** and Elizabeth Bailey **. (Elizabeth Bayley Arnall was born in 1817 in Lanteglos-by-Camelford, Cornwall, England and died circa Jan 1900 in Camelford, , Cornwall, England.)
