bullet  General Notes:

Helen's brother, John, married Janet Cadzow, Michael's sister.

At the time of the 1841 Census it appears that she was living next door to her parents and some of her siblings in Fauldhouse, Whitburn. On the Census form her entry is immediately before her family and she is in a different residence. Her age is recorded as 20 which is 6 years too young, but I can find no record of any Helen Meek born around 1821 who might otherwise be this person. She was a Straw Hat Maker and was born in the County. Living not far away were Charles Meek, who fathered her illegitimate son, Peter Meek, the following year, and also Michael Cadzow whom she married 5 years later. Michael and Charles appeared to be living in the same household and were both Iron Miners. On the following Census page there is a THOMSON family, headed by James aged 30 and including a daughter named Catherine. It is possible these are related to Helen whose mother was Catharine Thomson.

There was a notice published in The South Australian Government Gazette of July 26 1906 as follows:
"In the estate of Helen Cadzow, deceased.-- Pursuant to "The Trustee Act 1893": Notice is hereby given that all creditors and others having claims against the estate of the above-named Helen Cadzow, late of Mannmarie, in the State of South Australia, widow, deceased, who died on the 9th day of June, 1906, at Mannmarie aforesaid, are hereby required to send, on or before the 25th August, 1906, to the undersigned, the solicitors for Peter Nelson Funch, the executor of the will of the said Helen Cadzow, deceased, to whom probate was granted on the 17th day of July, 1906, their names, addresses and full particulars of such claims or demands, after which date the said executor will proceed to distribute the said estate among the parties entitled thereto, having regard only to the claims of which he shall then have had notice. Dated this 23rd day of July, 1906.
