Edward Power married Charlotte Matilda Dobbyn in Ireland. An Edward Power, aged 29, arrived in Victoria on the "Wanata" in January 1854. Marines from the armoured sloop "HMS Electra" were put on board the "Wanata" in mid January 1854 as the crew were in a state of mutiny and threatening the captain's life. Shipping records show Edward Power's accompanying wife as Mary, aged 26, and a child Jane aged 1 However, Victorian Death Records show Jane as being born in Cork and dying at sea and mother's name correctly recorded as Charlotte.
