Whilst not absolutely certain, I believed Margaret Jones married David Ross. Certainly there is a record of a death for Margaret Jones, widow of David Ross, in Cockenzie which records her age as 56 years in 1849 which is exactly correct. Amazingly, David's birth & baptism record appears immediately after hers on the Parish Register!

Update: DNA connection with a descendant of Margaret and David confirms this marriage.

David married Margaret Jones, daughter of John Jones ** and Agnes Young **, on 29 Jan 1814 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. (Margaret Jones was born on 2 Jun 1794 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland, christened on 31 Jul 1794 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland, died on 21 Apr 1849 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland and was buried on 23 Apr 1849 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland.). The cause of her death was Decline.


bullet  Marriage Notes:

David and Margaret were "irregularly married" at Edinburgh and the marriage was "confirmed by the session" at Tranent, their home parish, on 20 March 1814.
