George and Emily were first cousins. Their fathers were brothers.

At the time of the 1901 Census the family was living at 64 Hughes Fields, Deptford,Kent, England. George was a Painter aged 34, born Greenwich. Grace was 7 months old.

At the time of the 1911 Census George, Emily and Grace were living at 192 Evelyn St, Deptford, England. George was 45, a Painter (worker not employer) born in Greenwich. Emily was 40, a Dressmaker, also born in Greenwich. Daughter Grace was 17, a Piano Teacher also born in Greenwich. Living here also was a nephew, Alfred Gouldthorpe, aged 10, at school, born at Ponders End in Middlesex. Alfred was George's brother Richard's son. The Census reveals that Grace was the only child of this couple.

• He resided at the time of daughter Grace's baptism on 6 Sep 1893 in 61 Brand St, Greenwich, , Kent, England.

George married Emily Ann Gouldthorpe, daughter of William Benjamin Gouldthorpe and Ann Tyrrell, on 10 Jul 1892 in All Saints Church, Newington, Surrey, England. (Emily Ann Gouldthorpe was born 1Q 1871 in Greenwich, Kent, England and died in Sep 1939 in Blean, Kent, England.)
