bullet  General Notes:

Although his marriage certificate suggests he was born in 1832 other researchers in Canada put it at 1826.

He was still living in Canada in 1851 as he is recorded on the Census there working on his father's farm. Abraham departed from New York on the "Ocean Eagle" (1,450 tons) on Thursday 29th September1852 - aged 24 on shipping record, and arrived in Melbourne in December 1852. He bought with him one trunk containing "wearing apparel".

Abraham's bride, Mary Ann was just 16 years old when they married. She gave birth to the first of their 14 children, William Alfred, just five months later. On his birth certificate their marriage date has been recorded as 1 June 1859, rather that the actual date which was just 5 months earlier. The informant for the birth was Mary Ann's father, William.

Abraham was a miner and farmer at Harrietville in 1875 & 1881. He is buried in an unmarked grave at White Hills Cemetery internment number 9679. His last known address was Forest St Bendigo. Probate shows death on 14/7/1883. Australian Death Record lists his surname as Laurence and his father as Benjamin and mother as Elizabeth Haines.

The Informant on his Death certificate was his sister-in-law Eliza Ward of Bakewell St, Sandhurst.

(Mary Anne Wall was born on 28 Apr 1843 in Maitland, New South Wales, Australia, died on 21 Jan 1926 in Ovens Benevolent Asylum, Beechworth, Victoria, Australia and was buried on 26 Jan 1926 in Beechworth Cemetery, Beechworth, , Victoria, Australia.). The cause of her death was Senile Dementia Exhaustion, Indefinite.

It was a Presbyterian ceremony. Witnesses were the brides parents William P. and Elizabeth Wall. Mary Ann made her mark, suggesting she was illiterate.
