bullet  General Notes:

He signed his name on Ambrose's & Peter's Birth Certificates indicating that he could read and write.

At the time of the 1901 Census he was living at 51 McNeil St, Glasgow (where Ambrose & Peter were born). He was aged 25, a Portmanteau Maker (Leather), born Glasgow. Living with him were wife Susan, aged 29, born Glasgow; son Ambrose, aged 2, born Glasgow; son Peter, aged 9 months, born Glasgow.

At the time of the 1911 Census he was living at 23 Mathieson St, Govan, Glasgow. He was aged 35, a Portmanteau Maker, born Glasgow. Living with him were his wife Marion, aged 32, born Glasgow and children Ambrose, aged 12, born Glasgow and at School; Peter aged 10, born Glasgow and at School; son Ronald aged 2, born Glasgow and daughter Marion, aged 7 months, born Glasgow. Curiously Peter's daughter Isabella who would have been aged 10 or 11 was not living with them on Census day and I havent yet located where she was. Ambrose and Peter are both incorrectly recorded as step-sons to the Head of the household (Peter). They were Marion's step-sons, perhaps she responded to the Census and was misunderstood.
