  General Notes:

At the time of the 1841 Census William is 38, a Tailor, living in High St, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. He was born in the County. Living here also is his wife, Catherine, 38, also born in the county; and children William, 16, a tailor; Edward, 14, a tailor; John, 10; Mary Ann, 7; Catherine, 5; and Sarah, 1, all born in the county.

At the time of the 1851 Census William is 48, a tailor, recorded as born in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire and living at 44 Crossbrook St, Cheshunt (the 44 may simply be a sequential number rather than a house number as we know it today). Living with him are wife, Catharine [sic], 38, born in Therfield, Hertfordshire and children: John, 20, unmarried, a gardener born in Wormley, Herts; Catharine [sic], 14, a scholar, born Broxbourne, Herts; Sarah, 10 and Susan, 8 both also born in Broxbourne.

At the time of the 1861 Census William is 58, a tailor born in Ware, Herts and living at Rolands Field, Cheshunt, Herts. Living here also is his wife Catherine, 58, born Therfield and grandson, John Fitch, 11 months old, born in Cheshunt. it is not yet clear whose child this was, but possibly son John's son. I can't find a record for him in subsequent censuses. There is also a Lodger, 18 year old gardener Charles Titmas, born Wormby.

At the time of the 1871 Census William is 68, a tailor born in Ware, Herts, and still living at Roland Fields in Cheshunt. Living with him are his wife, Catherine, 67, born Therfield and granddaughter Susan K. Fitch, 3, born Cheshunt. She is believed to be Susan Kate Vaissiere, their daughter Mary Ann's daughter.

William married Catharine Groom, daughter of John Groom and Susanna Cherry, on 19 Jul 1824 in Ware, , Hertfordshire, England. (Catharine Groom was born on 17 Jul 1803 in Therfield, , Hertfordshire, England and died Q2 1873 in Edmonton, Middlesex, England.)
